Version 1.0
Issue Date: May 2024

Qualification -
Unit of Competency MEM10004 - Enter and change programmable controller operational parameters
Description
Employability Skills
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency defines the skills and knowledge required to enter and change programmable controller operational parameters.Work is generally undertaken at location of programmable controllers including, programmable logic controller (PLC) and distributed control system (DCS) or similar devices but could be undertaken with data link offsite.Where the selection and use of engineering measuring equipment is required see unit MEM12023 Perform engineering measurements.Where routine downloading of PLC, robot, computer numerically controlled (CNC) or numerically controlled (NC) programs from disk, tape or direct means not requiring program or data adjustment or checks against specification is required see unit MEM16008 Interact with computing technology. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Band: AUnit Weight: 2

Submission Requirements

List each assessment task's title, type (eg project, observation/demonstration, essay, assignment, checklist) and due date here

Assessment task 1: [title]      Due date:

(add new lines for each of the assessment tasks)

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.

This field allows for different work environments and conditions that may affect performance. Essential operating conditions that may be present (depending on the work situation, needs of the candidate, accessibility of the item, and local industry and regional contexts) are included.

Verify includes the following:

verification of machine/process/system operation, including interpreting the program, excluding multi-loop and control sequencing programs

Operating parameters include one (1) or more of the following:

timer settings

counter settings

set point settings

specifications and procedures gained from:

a range of circuit drawings

engineering data sheets

step print out

manufacturers' procedure

data books

Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Observation Checklist

Tasks to be observed according to workplace/college/TAFE policy and procedures, relevant legislation and Codes of Practice Yes No Comments/feedback
